About Us

We are a family business, locally owned and operated from our home studio in Kailua, on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Our Story

It all started in 2010, when my fiance Rick broke his leg surfing. As soon as he was able, we decided to walk the beach daily as a fun form of rehabilitation to get him back in shape and in the ocean surfing again. While on our daily walk at our local beach here in Kailua, we noticed large amounts of plastic from the “North Pacific Garbage Patch” washing up in the foamy waves along the shore. We decided to bring a 5 gallon bucket with us to hold the marine plastic debris we picked up each time we walked the beach. This resulted in a large collection of multi colored pieces of micro plastic.

I couldn’t help myself and decided to make a few pairs of earrings out of the brightly colored pieces of ocean micro plastic. They were immediately a hit with my friends and family so I continued to make them and eventually started selling them and our business Aloha Bangles was born.

As a growing business we’ve evolved from plastic earrings to fine metals (14k Gold/Sterling Silver) and luxurious Tahitian Pearls. Although we no longer use micro plastic in our jewelry, we continue to walk the beach with our 5 gallon bucket picking up trash and ocean plastics that wash ashore. All of our jewelry designs are inspired by our love for Hawaii, it’s beautiful beaches, and the Aloha Spirit.

We’re grateful for all of our customers and your support. Mahalo!
